If you are in a cold climate and it sat outside, I would take a peek inside the gas tank through the access hole, or pump some gas into a glass jar and inspect it. I let a car sit for two years once, and the inside of the gas tank looked like it was at the bottom of the ocean for 20 years. Rusted, big time and crap floating in the gas. I would at the very least change the fuel filter.
I know this is unrelated to your point, but I was amazed at how much rust was in there. It comes from metal condensting when cold.
