School me on my shifter 120-130

Sounds indeed like you have an early 1800 shifter in there, and agreed, they do spin pretty freely. You can take those 4 allen screws out.. easy enough to see exactly what's going on down there, and I don't think you'll find anything that's not round. (I don't recall any difficulty, but there might be something about the 'reverse lift spring' you want to be careful with)

Best bet I'd think is to grab the lever with pliers using rubber to protect the chrome. Be careful screwing that shifter on though... they strip out easily.

Be interesting to see a picture of the tunnel treatment, as the 1800 shifter won't fit under a stock tunnel...
