Testing spray pattern with injector out of car? 200 1986

If you just need to check if the injectors are leaking then it is very easy. Just pull of the fuel rail along with injectors and everything/every hose still attached. You may be able to pull the rail may be 1" from the intake. Make sure that the grounds which attach to fuel rails are still attached to engine block , u can use crocodile clips to do that. Put the ign. key on II position (do not crank) and leave it there. If you hear the pump click then go out check the injector by looking closely at them . If pump does not click then those grounds are not connected fine. The leaky ones drip a small drop here and there after every few seconds, the ones which are fine remain dry under pressure. You can again prime the whole system with just disconnecting the ground .Be careful of sparks

I think the bad ones just leak. Experts can help here.

It is very rudimentary test but can be done in 1/2 an hr. Lightly oil the injector o rings when putting back every thing . Actually a drop of PB Blaster when pulling of the rail also help.

I did this on my 1990-240 , the fuel injecton system is diff on 1986, I do not know if this procedure can still be applied there.
