I have changed out that stud, there is a trick 200

Hello,

Vote for the Dremel and the heavy duty cutting wheel, splice the nut with a X and pop it off.

I have pulled that stud out on my 86, Broke the top of it up getting carried tightening the nut. Tried the double nut trick, but no luck. Tried using heat and a double nut, no luck. Was going to break off the stud, drill it out and use a helicoil. But got lucky and found something that worked. Bent the stud in a L shape, and heated up the area. Then slid a handle of one of my open ended metric nut drivers that fit pretty snug on the stud.

Showed it some love with a small dead blow hammer, steady whacks, did not want to snap it off yet. And suddenly it let go and I was able to walk it our of there.

Now use a nut with a lock washer on that side of the housing.

Works like a champ,

Regards,

Paul
