I just bought a '98 V90 with a pair of Volvo Sachs/Boge shocks I believe they have less than 30Kmi on them and they're fine. Nice and firm after the Nivomat '96 965 I was driving. Tasca Volvo has them for $48.31! S90 p/n 9169420.
Monroe's are supposed to be good as well. Amazon has them listed for $34.98 Monroe p/n 5978 Sensa-Trac. Both p/n's for '98 S90.

Now on my 3rd IRS 965/V90!
Looking for a lo mileage '98 V90 Stripper (No sunroof or roof rack, fogs, hdlight wipers, mags or heated seats. They were specially ordered by at least one West Coast dealer for people who bemoaned the loss of the cheap redblock RWD cars! I missed a 72Kmi. one last year by two hours!
