Central Lock UPDATE 200 1990

Yes, the third (black) wire is the ground, and I would agree it is most likely broken inside the insulation and inside the boot in the door jamb.

The other end should be in the connector you see here at the upper right. A wire broken like that will stretch and snap the insulation if you pull on it.
