Sand a bit with a triple 0 sand paper. apply the paint, dry. sand lightly and apply clear coat. Sand lightly and apply paint. Build up the are this way until is even with the rest of the surface.
The reason why paint, clear coat, paint, clear coat, is because if you have to build up, the paint alone will not do it. If you paint, the next time you apply paint it will dissolve the first coat of paint. You end up sanding and painting and making a bigger and bigger hole. The clear coat has a hardener so it will harden the paint. Then you are ready for more paint and will be able to build it up.
When you are done sand very lightly. Then use extremely fine steel wool. then buff and buff with a cleaner wax. Then just wax.
