Speedometer/ odometer question 200

Before doing any more work on the instrument cluster, suggest checking the clearance between the speed sender and the rear end cage wheel in the rear end. This is dome by inserting a feeler gage inside the rear end through the gear oil fill plug.

The issue is that the signal coming from the sensor may be unreliable due to excess clearance. Clearance is adjusted by means of a washer/shim on the outside of the rear end cover plate.
