Help with trunk 1800 1966

Your description is a little short on details.
Did it open before?
Is it locked?
Is the button moving?
Can you feel the latch unlatching?
Has it been opened within the past year?
Have you tried spraying anything around the seal?
Can you get inside there through the trunk?
Maybe you can remove the back seat and have a helper push the button while you observe the latch and see what is or is not moving.
