Moderately unexpected odometer problem 200

While the gear was in fact broken on my odometer, It seems as though the broken tooth projectiled into the motor of the odometer, frying the motor. We bought a replacement via ebay, to discover it was not the same part, though the console looked the same.

We're having a difficult time finding a replacement.

Has anyone else ever experienced this problem?
