Sorry (but then again not really) you were not able to meet your reserve. Try selling it to someone not familiar with the classic Volvo market, but sells and buys old rides.
I dropped in to check out a custom classic car shop, lots of nice old cars from the 1950's- 70's. The owner does show car restoration projects for 35-60 grand. He priced my 142 with very similar rebuild efforts to your 142 at $4,000 more than I've heard offered for a 142. Maybe in a different market, the exotic look of your car could draw a better price.
Sure is a shame to give up one of a kind.
