240 window problems 200 1989

Dave,

Where is the stop and what does it look like? Bentley locates the stop for the power mechanism, but not for the manual.

The window is absolutely tight in the horizontal metal channel that connects it to the regulator. I made sure of that at the P&P, precisely b/c I did not want the chore of resetting it. The original window was tight, too.

In looking for the stops, I decided to see if perhaps all the times the p/o forced the window up had bent the front channel out of alignment. Judicious application of a pry bar let me move the channel just a hair inward to make it tighter on the window. The window, for now, appears to function properly. But if there are stops, I would love to know how to check and adjust them, as I don't know whether the channel will stay put for the long term.

If all else fails, I may simply drill through the channel on each side and screw in a small slat of wood (or something relatively soft) to act as a stop. But the car is nice, and I would prefer not to trick it out with Rube Goldberg fixes, visible or not.

John
