Add freon without starting the engine 700

Thanks for posting this information.

I knew I had a massive leak in the AC on a 1994 940t and just couldn't match schedules with a friend who runs an independent garage willing to look for it.

Using hot tap water I just pushed half a can of 134a into the system. In the quiet of my workspace with all the door closed I heard a leak. Using a piece of heater hose to my ear I zeroed in on it and found it to be at the upper right corner of the condenser. There is a small piece of sheet metal with a screw into the cooling fins at the leak site. I assume that after 15 years the sheet metal either abraded a hole in the condenser or electrolysis got to it (or both).

At any rate I appreciate being able to find the leak myself- leaving only the evacuation and charging to the garage.

Randy
