Congrats on removing/bypassing the TCB. Now your gauge shows true temperatures continually -- the gauge stayed in the middle with the TCB only as an artifact of the circuitry.

But the temperature you describe is NOT normal. Depending on which thermostat you have (there are two temps, 89 and 92 C), it should stay (assuming no hot weather with A/C running) either at about 8:30, or 9:30, positions.

Your description sounds more like 10:30, and that would suggest a cooling problem. Assuming it only happens at highway speed, consider either an old thermostat that isn't opening enough, or perhaps a radiator clogged with mineral deposits, or clogged fins blocking air flow, or ... etc.

If this is only when you're in traffic, it could also be just the fan clutch, especially if it improves when you get on the open road.
