1972 P1800ES ECT Resistance Question 1800

Ok, I measured across the two terminals of the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor and it was about 1700 Ohms from a cold start situation. It's about 75 degrees outside and the car sat in the driveway for about 4 hours before I took the reading with an analog meter.

I took it out for a 10 minute spin then came back and measured the resistance again across the same two terminals and it was infinity. I made sure I checked it about 5 times.

The 240's and the 740's had a decrease in ECT resistance when as the Coolant Temp increased. This was sent to the ECU for Air/Fuel computation based on engine coolant temp.

Is this normal for the 1800 to have an open across the ECT when the coolant is at operating temperature ?

Seems weird to me, but I wanted to ask you guys.

"Cuz
