Easy out... out and out. 120-130

Well, I've finally found the time to tackle the broken easyout'n bolt. Yesterday I finagled w/ notching it and using a driver... coulda worked if the circumstances were a bit different. But it didn't. I then went out and picked up a carbide bit and a helicoil kit (helicoil was picked up in case the drilling started going to the wrong way). Well, I made a bit of a mess, not bad, but not the clean tidy fix I was looking for. So I stopped for the day and fitted the hood (had to finish one successful task).

So the final fix is w/ a helicoil and I have to give props to the die grinder my friend rolled over with. Really made it easy to straighten things out and get it going in the right direction. The helicoil fix was great. Works like a charm. All in all I'm incredibly happy and have learned a lot during the whole process.

Do's: tap out all threads(worth the headache), new hardware is your friend, deep breaths and patience makes things easier, helicoils are great, if things get worse after the second attempt, stop, sleep on it and consult the brickboard.

Dont's: well, don't break bolts, don't try to fix it w/o procuring knowledge on the situation, don't let excitement make you stronger than you think you are (why the bolt and easyout broke I am sure)... etc etc etc... oh how this list grows.

Well, thanks everyone... really boosted my confidence and I learned a lot. Can't wait to try another technique on another bolt. Heres my project if you care to look... a lot has happened since I've updated the photos last... but here's the link... everything i've done is a first attempt, so be kind :)... 1967 122s
