Brake System Flush Question 140-160

The factory manual suggests denatured alcohol (without benzene) what the Europeans call "methylated spirit". Is this what our local hardware variety od Denatured Alcohol is?

Yes. Denatured alcohol is methylated spirit, 90+% Ethanol with the rest being Methanol to make it lethal if consumed. It also contains a tiny bit of denatonium benzoate, an ultra bitter substance to make if horrible to drink.

Flush your system out with it until it runs clear, then replace it with new brake fluid, then bleed. Do that first, even if you have to replace the master cylinder or hoses.
