I spliced the brake wire just before the white connector and tapped directly to the bulb socket, making contact with the metal tip and voila, the brake light came on. So it looks like I am not getting voltage from the connector to the board. Although after I did this, I noticed my upper mount brake light came on, acting like a taillight.
