Brakes work fine with ABS disengaged. I've experienced this repeatedly with my ABS equipped 91 245.
ABS is front brakes only. You'll notice a difference but they'll work about the same as non-ABS earlier 240's.

Cleaning out the ABS sensors on the rotors is the usual fix.
