You would see that level of oil consumption producing smoke out the tail pipe, trust me on that one... even if you weren't looking for it! Disregard my previous email about rings and kerosene, I assumed you had blue tail pipe smoke! You have a big bad oil leak somewhere, perhaps a rear seal, rear cam plug, or a major gasket leak somewhere. First step is to ensure that the flame trap is not plugged up as that would force oil past perfectly good seals, let alone high mileage ones.
