Not sure if it's any wider, but if you could measure it and I can compare against the automatic tunnel in my 122. Allegedly the T5 will fit into the 122 automatic tunnel, so if the dimensions are similar it might be a go.

The other perk of that tunnel (I think) is you can use the shorter 1800 style shifter instead of the school-bus-length 122 one. I'd be pretty interested in taking it off your hands specifically for that reason (planning a manual swap in the future) if I knew the width was close.
