Thermal compound application to ignition amplifier heatsink

A paper thin coating of heatsink compound is all that is required since it is just used to fill in surface irregularities. So, from what I read above you did things absolutely right and there should be no real gap between the surfaces once you are done.

Arctic silver 5 compound is normally used in CPU applications where much higher power densities and heat loads are applied. It really is great stuff but also expensive.
