Oh darn, bad compression, '71 145S 140-160

Well, finally had a little time to look at the engine... $3.99 for carb cleaner, removed the two terribly dirty/clogged air filters from the SU's, filled one carb w/dashpot oil, turned key and it fired! Albeit, it took a few tries and my foot on the gas for about 10 mins, but it actually ran pretty nice for not running over a year. Drove it down the street and back up, it pulled very hard in first! I let it warm-up for 20 mins or so, re-checked compression and now have completely different numbers. 60-60-145-100 I guess the next step will be to perform the valve adjustment, check timing and re-test. I highly doubt that could be that easy to bring up such low compression, but the oil looks good, (doesn't appear to have coolant mix), so maybe the h/c isn't blown either? Possibly a re-ring job in the future??? Stay tuned...
