Yes, the lifters come out the top with the head off. A magnet might work. I've had good luck with a long pair of hemostats. Surplus stores often have them. Be careful you don't drop them into the pan. Also they hold a little oil so tip (drain) them to avoid getting it on your shoe. Good luck.
