I confirmed the position of the overdrive switch from several sources - above and slightly offset to the right between the right-most two switches - thanks to Brickboarders for your help.

In case anyone is interested - I have documented my latest efforts on this Wiki page (a new steering column cowl with two gauges recessed into the top).
