With the idle adjust backed off, you could visually see one butterfly valve against the throat, and the other with a slight gap.
After gently twisting the shafts, this no longer occured.
I can't imagine what internal problems in the engine there could be, this was with a freshly rebuilt bottom end, and a new cam with new lifters, and an R-sport head with a recent valve job and proper adjustment.
I have no idea how common that would be on an old used set of DCOE's, but both of my carbs had this issue.
Don't know how they got bent (and it was slight), but it was easy to unbend, and they seem to have stayed that way ever since then.
