handbrake S90-V90

I have a 95 960, and I am pretty sure the hand brake is very similar. I replaced the hand brake last year from tip to tail. I did not have to remove the gas tank, but it was loosened to get the cables along on top, which took two of us.

The greater problem was the rear cables. Volvo appended the left and right cables to one part number for a series of cars. The new Volvo replacement does not fit the 960, which caused quite a bit of difficulty. The dealer had to have a cable made by an engineering company to fit, and it has been fine. I understand non fitting hand brake cables are becoming a common issue with Volvo.
