I can't really tell you. In the last 3 years the car was driven often but for short distances only(except when it was getting painted). However, I have always felt the brakes were not "quite right".

But now in Georgia, with these amazing roads and gorgeous scenery, the length of the trip has increased significantly, thus me smelling the brakes.
