The pedal box doesn't shift, or the gearshift doesn't shift?
Could be you have a throwout fork problem.....
If you got water in your cable it can go south pretty quick.
Another thing that happens is that the cable exterior can get kinked and strand the cable.
When individual strands of the cable core start to break, it can completely lock up.
