Pull a Part etiquette 700

Will--1963 Oldsmobile F85 all aluminum 215 V8--used by Olds and Buick (Special) in their newly (1961) introduced mid-size cars---later bought by Rover (Buick version) and used for decades till the Rover take over by BMW. Total weight of the motor with all accessoriess--350 lbs. I originally intended to put it into an MGB-GT but instead fixed the 4 cyl. motor in that car and drove it for a couple of years. What to do with the unneeded '63 F85 became obvious when I started thinking about the huge engine compartment in the 240/260 series. Thus a search was started for a suitable body (this was 1988) and found a '76 265 with all the usual V6 bugaboos--needed cams, rockers, timing chain and water pump. Took 2-3 weeks of work spread over 2 years and we drove the VolvOldsmobile for 10 years/150k before the Hydramatic gave up. Now the motor is being surrounded by a '93 245 and nearly all the parts for the 5-speed conversion have been collected/fabricated. The project is at my son's shop in Thomasville--we'll have to get together at some point. -- Dave
