AC swi\tch bad 700 1988

AC died 2 years ago
A friend looked at it yesterday & wired the switch on the unit & the darn thing came on & blows cold.

Now this switch that isn't working is attached with a brass nut. It looks juist like a 2 prong plug

My question is can this switch be changed without looking the charge or disturbing the system?

Otherwise I guess I'll leave it wired as it still be fuse protected...? I hope.

Was thinking...does the switch have some sort of sensor that would block the operation of the system when the charge is too low?
Then its really not a good idea to use it.

If I found a volvo converted to 134 would I be able to swap it pretty easy?
what parts would need to be change? Is this worth it as my AC does blow cold now but just have to look into the switch issue

Any advice?
