OMG, a Facel Vega!!! What a beautiful automobile!! If he ever sells it, can I be included on the short list?

As to the smoke, the brake line and servo on left hand drive cars are on the wrong side to spray on the exhaust. Besides, your brake fluid would be almost gone by now.

Check for a carb leak... If you have a Weber with heated choke, it could be a little antifreeze.
