Sounds like a Steinbeck story. Do you picture yourself doing crank bearings alongside a dusty road? Regapping a magneto?

Nah, I'd say just be sure the alternator brushes are fairly fresh (many places), the crank sensor cable is intact (not too far from home), the tank pump is running (Wyoming), and the axle pipe (exhaust) isn't ready to give way (twice in the Midwest). Bring a cell phone.
