since no one with experience with this rear latch has answered I'll throw in my 2 cents. When presented with problems like this with door latches, the first thing I do is spray them with a quality penetrating lube and manipulate the mechanism a lot . If that works, follow it up with some regular lube. If not it's time to take it out and work it out......

WARNING!!! lock/latch sets can be a little complicated, take plenty of pictures during disassembly.,

If you look carefully you will find the problem, i often fashion new springs out of spring steel or similar.
