Keys 200

Dan,

The tumblers rarely wear significantly in the lock. Keep in mind that the key is always exposed to wear while it is on your key ring and in your pocket, you move, it gets wear. The spring forces on the tumblers in the lock can be measured in ounces and they are protected from outside influences except for the actual key.

My boss 15 years ago taught me a lot about how locks and safes work, that is what he did during his internship. That being said, I am a rookie "lock picker" when the situation is legal, what takes me hours to do takes him seconds to accomplish.
Note, my old boss has no criminal record, neither do I for that matter!
