As I have heard on Car Talk.
Rubber shrinks, as it gets warmer from the air or friction so that is why the squeal goes away after driving or on warmer days. The material behaves opposite than you would think.
You may need to loosen a component and tighten its belt to get by for now. Be glad you don't have a serpentine belt. They are quick to yell at you, in their Chinese fire brigade world.
General information.
When the belts are old and cracked, just tightening and not changing them out about every four years will make them like not brushing and flossing your teeth everyday.
If you continue to ignore them, they will, go AWAY!
