Unless I'm way off base, that's a date code. 1983 would mean it's a B23, not a B230. No reason it shouldn't work provided you don't plan to swap any internals. You'll likely want to swap the head from the B230 over because it'll have the sensors you'll need for the '86 FI. Minor things like oil pressure sender are different but easily worked around.

I can't think of too many reason NOT to do it if the B23 is in good shape...
