Bore-scope is an interesting idea. If I had one I might not have pulled the trans.
To remove the fork, it seems I could've just smacked it forward with my hand to pop the spring clip off the pivot ball, and then the fork just pulls off the release bearing and out of the bell-housing. It's just a 2 fingered fork, doesn't enclose the input shaft. The real trick I think would be the re-install and getting the spring clip back onto the pivot, but here again a bore-scope would've helped.
Live and learn, right? Sh#t. I didn't actually want to pull the M46 out until I found an M47 to replace it with, which is much easier to bench-press into place.
