Hi,


The rubber ring is a seal for the electric fan switch. In my opinion this design is lame because of the lack of a retaining device for the switch. A much better way would have been to use threads and a metal or fibre crush washer. There are many reports of the switch popping out just like you describe. Replace the seal with one ordered from the dealer for insurance against it popping out again.
