Thank you, all, for helping me realize that I was on the wrong trail.

I had thought, mistakenly: "The struts are newish and good quality, so problems are appearing because of something else."

I realize now that Boge Turbo does NOT equal Scantech, but I AM getting that Scantech feeling.

So when I cannot stand the cold clunking any more:
I will have a new (replacement) strut insert on hand, when taking things apart.

End of predominantly wishful thinking! :-)
