Last time: What are you running for shocks? 120-130

Hello,

Please contact me directly about the shocks at:

e_hamlet (AT) hotmail (DOT) com

The "_" between "e" and "hamlet" needs to be used in my email address.

Volvo, Bilstein and Koni shocks come with a (1) year warranty.

Monroe and KYB offer a lifetime warranty.

We like all the above manufacturers except Monroe.

Monroes do not seem to last.

I will tell you about 1 experience I had with Monroes.

Over 15 years ago we needed to buy a non running 544 to get the doors for a semi-restoration job we were doing.

It turned out the car being restored had recently had Monroes installed and they had already failed after less than a year.

We bought new shocks from Volvo and when I went to install them, the special spacer sleeves that are supposed to be transfered to the new shock lower bushings were missing because the previous mechanic did not know about them.

So I went to 544 we had purchased and removed the rear shocks to get the special spacer sleeves.

I noticed that the shocks were the original ones that had came with the car when it was made over 20 years prior.

The old shocks were obviously old and they had the original under coating that was sprayed on at the factory still on them.

These 20+ year old shocks were in way better shape than the less than 1 year old Monroes.

The Monroes offered no resistance on rebound, where as the 20 year shocks were very good on resistance in the rebound direction.

BTW for you 544 and 444 owners, the oft missing special spacer sleeves are now available new at our website.
