Engine removal question 200 1986

It's a pain in the butt no matter how you do it. I replaced my engine by separating the engine and transmission. Once I removed the engine mounts and slid the engine to the side, the starter and top bellhousing bolts were not hard to remove - with an 18mm short socket.

Remove all the bellhousing bolts and the transmission-engine brace(6 bolts) and the 4 torque converter to flywheel bolts. From there it's not that bad and you don't have to fight with the flex plate bolts, crossmember, radiator, etc.

You're going to have to separate the engine and trans anyway... It might be a little easier with something to hold the transmission for you. Lots of people prefer to remove the transmission too.

However you do it, good luck.
