ball joint question 1800

I had a 6-month-old ScanTech ball joint fail on my 2001 V70T5.
I wrote up a failure analysis and posted it in the Brickboard/AWD forum.
About a week later an engineer from ScanTech called me up and was most interested.
He asked me if I would send him the old ball joint. I told him that I would as soon as I had
good pictures of the fracture surfaces to confirm my findings.
I sent them to them along with a list of all costs involved in getting the ball joint replaced,
minor fender damage fixed, etc. I also sent them the OEM ball joint that was replaced
when the one that failed was installed.
In a couple weeks they sent me a check for the total amount.
I have asked them a couple times if their examination of the failed ball joint gave the
same conclusions as mine, but have received no response to that.
BTW ScanTech is now the same company as Dorman, known for many years as a supplier
of nuts, bolts, cotter pins and a very wide variety of other hardware through hardware
stores, parts houses, etc.
I was not overwhelmed with the quality of the ball joint but I will have to say that
they treated me well.
