Update on the situation. The car doesn't have a crank sensor as the turbo's did not have them until 1990. Is there anything else to check beside the fuel pump? I'll jump the relay tereminals to test the pump when I can get to it, but the 960 is out of the barn now and I'll drive her until this gets done.
