Two items. The PCV is designed to be in the upright position in order to work properly(gravity). The hose routing behind the block is no problem, so long as you tap into the intake manifold. Do not tap into the carb unless you want to clean out the oil residue every few thousand miles. Using mostly cyl 3&4 for the oil fumes will not be of any harm.
