You should look at it to see if it is an M41 or an M410. As has been stated the M41
has the mounting Allen bolts going through ears on the tranny into the bellhousing.
The bolts that mount the M410 are INSIDE the bellhousing, which needs to stay with the tranny.
If it was me, I would use the old shifter top and not do the surgery on the tunnel.
Also if there is any way I could do it I would also get the engine with it,
assuming it is not prohibitively expensive. HS6 or HIF6 carbs work well on a B20E or B20F.
If it is an M410, you might want to trade it for an M41. There are plenty who would do that.
