Well I guess they are good parts!
I can't recall if I supplied the spring-loaded, or the solid float valve needles. Either way the setting is the same. The "dip" in the float body should be level with the edge of the chamber when inverted. A half millimeter either way is fine for sure.
The other is to check float drop - turn the carb right side up and ensure that the float drops down, and that the needle follows it down.
