What muffler are you running? 120-130

The thing is that all the early Amazons had the same exhaust system. The system wasn't improved until the B18/B20 cars. This exhaust won't fit my car. VP Autoparts has the exact exhaust for my car, but it is about $260 plus shipping. For that amount of money, it isn't worth it for me.

I have measured my factory system; the pipe size reduces multiple times. It goes from 1.5" to 1.25" to 1". That is a restrictive system. I measured the outlet diameter on the header and it is 1.75", so I would like to go with 1.75" all the way back. I might also go with 2" because 2" mufflers are cheaper than 1.75" by about $50 for the muffler that I want.

It all comes down to the muffler or muffler resonator setup. Mufflers with baffles tend to be quieter but they restrict flow. Mufflers with perforated cores can make more noise but they have better flow. I have been reading and I found out that the Dynomax Super Turbo muffer flows the best and it is quieter than magnaflow and other mufflers.

I would really like the car to quiet, but make some noise on idle.

The exhaust shop that I go to, is a small business and they do great work. I am thinking that it will cost me about $100 for the exhaust (not including mufflers). They use 16GA aluminized steel. I replaced the exhaust pipe on my newer Volvo with 2.5" and they charged me $100. My neighbor purchased an all new exhaust with muffler for his truck and they charged $125. They are extremely reasonable, plus they don't charge tax!
