Code blinks 2-4-1 900 1993

Dear dv8oliver,

Hope you're well. If Code 2-4-1 was read at diagnostic code ports A2 or A6, it means: EGR-system flow fault. I don't recall many posts dealing with the EGR system faults. I've never seen these codes on my 940s.

At very high mileages, the EGR system can become clogged with carbon. The EGR Valve is mounted below and to the rear of the intake manifold (driver's side of the engine, North American models). It is very hard to access, and even harder to remove, as the lock nuts generally have corroded.

Before spending a lot of time and money, disconnect the negative battery cable clamp from the negative battery terminal. Wait 20 minutes. Then re-connect the cable to the battery. Check to see if the Code still appears. If not, wait a couple of days and again check the code reader. If the code "goes away" - and if the "Check Engine Light" (CEL) does not come on, then the problem is gone.

If the code re-appears, or if the CEL again comes on, please post-back.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Jay E.
