Hello,

The water pump must be installed and the bolts tightened before you can start the pipe retaining bolt.

Did you apply upward pressure on the water pump while tightening the mounting bolts?

This is necessary to properly seal the water pump to the under side of the cylinder head and raises the pump high enough to start the pipe retaining bolt.

Did you get the pipe properly seated in the pump?
